Phase Two :: School and Athletic Fields
Estimated Cost: $17,000,000
The goal of Phase Two is to build upon the 56-year tradition of educating students to live their faith through love and service to others by constructing a new St. Michael Catholic School that will meet the physical structure needs of students today and far into the future while providing parishioners the opportunity of an outstanding Catholic education.
We commit ourselves to build a new St. Michael Catholic School that is:
- A 70,000 SF, energy efficient building for 500 students in grades Pre-K through 8th staffed by strong academic leaders and exceptional, well-compensated teachers;
- Designed with state-of-the-art technology capabilities;
- Committed to providing appropriate space for art, music, science, enhancement programs, and student dining;
- Integrated with the church through placement, design, and landscaping.
Our school has been a priority from the very beginning of our move to Sage Road in 1951. Immediately plans for a school were developed that included a space for Sunday Masses until a church could be built (now the Auditorium). The school opened in 1954, eleven years before our church was constructed.
In this long-range plan, we again make St. Michael Catholic School a priority. We will build a state-of-the-art school that will welcome students for generations to come. Over the past 55 years, we have been using up the useful life of the school building. We have adapted and added on, but the needs now far outweigh our ability to renovate our current school buildings efficiently or cost-effectively. The comprehensive engineering and construction study concluded that investing new dollars in the present structure would not be sufficient or prudent in meeting established educational standards or the state-mandated changes required for the current building.
The Future St. Michael Catholic School
Preliminary Renderings (subject to change)

Orientation of floor plan renderings below: top of drawing is west looking toward the Church. The bottom is where the new football field and track will be located.

First Floor: Plans integrate the current Middle School Building into the new school and converts the current library into the cafeteria. Administration and support offices, the gymnasium, and classrooms for Pre-K, K and 1st grades occupy the first floor. A three-story atrium brings light to the upper floors.

Second Floor: Along with classrooms for grades 3 to 5, the second floor consolidates the library and computer labs into an information resource area. The area above the cafeteria will be used for CCE classes and provides an area for future growth, if needed. In this rendering, you will be able to look down to the playing floor of the two-story gymnasium.

Third Floor: Grades 6 to 8 will occupy the third floor along with new science labs. The school’s performing arts area and a chapel will be located on this level.
