Fair Trade means that the artisans and farmers who produce Work of Human Hands products earn a fair price, get access to credit and training, and maintain long-term relationships rooted in the principles of human dignity and economic justice. Fair Trade sales in the United States are growing at a double digit pace thanks to people our parishioners who made our December 2007 sale such a big success.
Every purchase resulted in a contribution being made to the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Fair Trade Fund. The fund makes high-impact grants overseas to help disadvanteged artisans and farmers overseas gain access to the U.S. Fair Trade market. Here in the U.S. Market-Building Grants support intitiatives that help increase the market for Fair Trade products here in the U.S.
Our next Work of Human Hands Sale is Sunday December 13, 2009.
