Adult Confirmation
Adult Confirmation is for those who have been baptized and have received their First Eucharist in the Catholic Church, but lack the sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament is necessary for one to perform the role of Eucharistic Minister, godparent, or sponsor in the Catholic Church. It is also a sacrament that is strongly recommended prior to a person receiving the sacrament of marriage.
Confirmation preparation takes place in the Fall and Spring. You must first register by completing the form linked below.
The Fall classes occur at St. Michael and the Spring classes will take place at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart downtown. The classes are held at the Cathedral Centre and there is a parking lot behind the Centre which is free for those participating in formation. The address is 1701 San Jacinto and the parking lot is off of Jefferson St.
Getting Started
As you prepare for Confirmation, we encourage you to:
- Schedule a meeting with your pastor and parish catechetical leader. At the meeting, share your faith decision for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and discuss what sacramental preparation class offering options may be best for you. This is also a graced moment to become better acquainted with the parish faith community and ask about how you can share the gifts God has given to you.
- Reflect on how you may renew your faith life.
- Obtain spiritual direction and understanding.
- Take time each day for prayer.
- Embrace the Sunday Liturgy with your family and friends.
- Think through how you will further develop your relationship with Jesus and the Catholic Church and how the parish can better serve your faith formation needs.
